There are many things to learn about when it comes to living a Holistic healthy lifestyle. But one of the most important basic concept is, “What goes in must come out.” Your body is like a machine: it takes what it needs from what you feed it and gets rid of the rest by urination and through the bowels. If you notice you have a problem with constipation, a condition in which there is difficulty in emptying the bowels, you should take it seriously. At least 1 bowel movement a day is considered being regular. Having bowel movements after each meal, that is not watery, is optimal. But if you find that you are having one per week or 2 per month, most likely there can be a serious problem. Some people might feel using the having 2-3 BMs a day a nuisance. But let me tell you, your colon will be quite happy if you go several times for the day. If you are looking for a trick to be regular, you can consume mostly raw fruits and vegetables, steamed beets and using digestive enzymes with your meals. Also drinking enough water and liquids to keep hydrated and regular physical activity will be beneficial to you. I have just lightly touched on the subject, but if you are dealing with chronic constipation consult a doctor, herbalist or a health practitioner. When your body is not eliminating toxins and wastes, it can lead to other health issues. Proper digestion and elimination is the foundation of good health. May you live a long and healthy life!
