Description
Yoga is the Sanskrit name for union. It is a spiritual practice that incorporates poses, meditation, chanting and study to elevate to a higher consciousness while promoting calmness and relaxation in the body and mind. It can also help with minor aliments like indigestion, mental stress and backache for example. While yoga cannot replace traditional treatment techniques, it can be an excellent complement to existing treatments. There are many types of Yoga practices around the world and many cultures around have been practicing their own type of Yoga for thousands of years. Below are three that I currently offer. SWAI TAWI Kemetic Yoga- The oldest Yoga practice which dates back 10,000 years ago as evidenced on the writings and pictures on the wall of the Great Pyramids. The great Sages of Ancient Kemet Practiced SWAI TAWI which means the “Union of 2 lands”, to elevate individual consciousness to Divine consciousness through poses, chanting, meditation, breathwork and through studies. Hatha Yoga-has its roots from Kemetic Yoga which uses physical techniques to try stretch and strengthen the body holding each pose for a few breaths to elevate your consciousness. Yin Yoga- is a slower, meditative practice where the poses are held for a longer time for inner reflection and contemplation and targets the tendons, ligaments, fascia, joints, and can help support the meridians (energy channels) in the body.
